As the first snowfall of the season hit New York City, those who had escaped to sun-soaked Miami in preparation of Art Basel Miami Beach enjoyed an evening at the annual Cultured and R and Company dinner. The event, which officially opens the floodgates for the whirlwind art fair and the myriad social tidings that coincide with it, benefited from a boost of elegance this year as Moda Operandi co-hosted the seated affair. Diners ate al fresco in the backyard of Cultured Editor in Chief Sarah Harrelson, and the coursed dinner of tuna and gnocchi was enjoyed by cohorts from all over the worlds of fashion and design, from Stefano Tonchi and David Maupin to collectors Chandra and Jimmy Johnson. A welcome calmness permeated the air as guests sat at bouquet-lined banquet tables, languishing in the delicious moment of pre-fair indulgence.
