Lafayette 148 Debuts Rare Murano Glassware

A new collection of Murano glass vases are coming to New York. Known for its chic ready-to-wear and women's accessories, Lafayette 148 just unveiled three, hand-blown creations that were made in collaboration with Fratelli Dona in Murano, Italy. "Lafayette 148 is committed to celebrating a legacy of quality and craftsmanship, of skilled artisans and expertise in the arts," says friend of the brand Barbara Gast, who worked on the project.

The Rotandro, Tulipano, and Cilindro vases are available in two colors: Pagliesco, a light champagne shade, and Ambra, a deep amber, and only 12 of each object have been produced. The Rotandro is a short, foggy sphere, perhaps best suited for a few flower buds or sticks of incense. The Tulipano is a classically long stem item, with a similar aesthetic to the Rotandro. The Cilindro piece, on the other hand, unfurls itself in a unique and asymmetrical shape, perfect for a voluminous bouquet. The frosted quality of the pieces comes from a technique called "Satinatura," applied by master glass blowers

Each item was hand forged and signed by Murano Glass on the Murano island, famous for its history of glass-blowing. The collection is now available at Lafayette 148’s new SoHo location, which marks the brand's return to its downtown roots. "Uniqueness, color, and quality give life to an exclusive, artisanal glass collection in collaboration with the maestri Fratelli Dona in Murano. We are honored to have the opportunity to work with such prestigious artists," adds Gast.

Lafayette 148's Murano Glass collection is now available at brand's SoHo boutique at 59 Greene StNew York, NY 10012 and online.
