Last Friday, David Zwirner, Loewe, and CULTURED Editor-in-Chief Sarah Harrelson gathered guests for a midsummer fête to mark the release of the magazine’s 2025 Young Collectors list. Attendees mingled over fresh mint and cucumber-infused drinks while leafing through CULTURED’s new Art + Food issue. Conversation flowed among guests as they perched against the polished concrete bar and the garden’s long wooden tables, peeling off now and then to wander through Marcel Dzama’s stirring exhibition “Empress of Night,” on view at the gallery through Aug. 8.

The Occasion: A joint celebration of the next generation of art collectors presented in CULTURED’s latest issue, and a sneak preview of Dzama’s “Empress of Night,” a series of paintings depicting masked muses, mythical beasts, and electric dreamscapes inspired by the artist’s admiration for surrealist poet Federico García Lorca.

The Locale: David Zwirner’s sun-filled Angeleno complex and leafy garden.

The Crowd: A cadre of art, fashion, and media insiders, including 2025 Young Collector honoree Ben Weyerhaeuser; philanthropist and founder Claudia Kahn; interior designer Jamie Bush; artists Christina Quarles, Julien Nguyen, Hilary Pecis, and Richard Hawkins; tastemaker Courtney Trop; and collectors, Joy Simmons, Kai Loebach and Geraldine Chung.

Memorable Moment: Dzama materializing—much like the insect protagonist in his 2023 film To live on the Moon (For Lorca), on view in the neighboring gallery—to greet guests, revealing a few easter eggs of the narratives tucked into his works on view.

Parting Gift: Copies of CULTURED’s Art + Food issue featuring a limited-edition cover featuring Lisa Yuskavage’s PieFace, 2008, were swept up—and straight into Zwirner-branded tote bags (along with some Loewe editions) as guests headed home.
