Yara Shahidi, Jessica Chastain, and More Join Gucci in a Toast to the Mothers That Got Them Where They Are

Earlier this week, Gucci staged a takeover of Borgo—the new trattoria from cult New York restaurateur Andrew Tarlow—for a midday salute to Gucci Together, the brand's Mother’s Day love letter lensed by Tina Barney.

Mother-daughter hosts Yara Shahidi and Keri Salter‑Shahidi arrived sporting matching pastels, flanked by the full Shahidi crew and rapper cousin Nas, proving that family trees look best in full bloom.

Inside, arching branches and sprawling table runners evoked the campaign’s floral choreography while white wine flowed and seasonal, rustic Italian dishes were prepared over a wood-fired hearth. Jessica Chastain arrived arm‑in‑arm with her mother Jerri Hastey, and the crowd quickly added actor Louisa Jacobson, jewelry designer Sabine Getty, editor and stylist Gabriella Karefa‑Johnson, writer Derek Blasberg, and stylist Jason Rembert.

Tarlow’s menu read like a Tuscan haiku—lemony flatbread, light fennel salad, and a perfectly smoked branzino. Between bites, Shahidi spoke of the production company she founded with her mother, 7th Sun Productions, and its mission to bottle optimism, while Salter‑Shahidi praised creative kinship and the importance of choosing projects one can learn from.

The conversation spilled into late‑afternoon light before guests departed with Gucci Flora silk scarves—portable bouquets that promised, like the maternal bonds on display, never to wilt.
