What if a picture of a house could function as a portrait? François Dischinger’s architectural photographs have more personality than most. Usually captured while on editorial assignment, Dischinger’s body of work feels more at home in a gallery, which is exactly where it will be on display come September 21.

Hosted by Danziger Gallery, the inaugural exhibition will see some of Dischinger’s images blown up to epic proportions worthy of their monumental muses. Favorites include the recently closed Four Seasons, where Dischinger shot a Negroni in honor of designer Philip Johnson. “I feel that when I go to a location the most important thing is to have an experience,” he says. “I try to get a sense of the space by being quiet. As crazy as it sounds, it works.”
