On May 22, supporters of the arts, creative minds and philanthropists gathered at New York’s Cipriani 42nd Street for The Gordon Parks Foundation’s annual Awards Dinner and Auction. Co-chaired by Karl Lagerfeld, Kendrick Lamar, Valerie Jarrett, Alicia Keys and Kassem Dean, Usher IV, Henry Louis Gates Jr., Kenneth and Kathryn Chenault, Judy and Leonard Lauder and Alexander Soros, the evening celebrated individuals who embody Park’s legacy and devotion to social justice. This year’s honorees included Ava DuVernay, Ronald O. Perelman, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Sherrilyn Ifill, Sally Mann and Jamel Shabazz. Deana Lawson and Derrick Adams were recognized as well for receiving the 2018 Gordon Parks Foundation Fellowship.
