Navigating Miami's Best Galleries During Art Basel

As the city readies for Art Basel week, we check in on Miami's gallery scene.

Miami 10 years ago, compared to today, would be unrecognizable. Massive developments, world-class museums and an ever-accelerating influx of people and capital have coalesced the city into an international cultural hub, and this has meant big changes to Miami’s gallery scene. Galleries have expanded far beyond Wynwood (many decamping for less-commercial territory) and new curatorial models are being tested as local and outsider thirst for art and information grows. Though Miami is known for being fickle, there are a few galleries with long-term staying power, and several others that are cementing their place in the limestone.
