Spring dressing has always felt a little like flirting with the weather. One minute you’re wrapped in a heavy coat, and the next, you’re eyeing bare ankles and a silk blouse like it’s July. The trick isn’t packing winter away too quickly, but finding pieces that thrive during that in-between sweet spot.

Below, CULTURED’s Fashion Director-at-Large Kate Foley, a stylist and creative consultant known for her eclectic, effortless approach to dressing, shares a sharp edit of what’s inspiring her spring wardrobe on the fashion e-tailer Mytheresa. The result is a pair of daring shoes worth planning an outfit around, rich and velvety sweaters perfect for layering, and light trousers that will demand continued wear all season long.

Striped cotton shirt by Dries Van Noten ($840)

“Oversized shirts are a staple in my wardrobe. I avoid anything overly classic and gravitate towards pieces that look a little different. I wear mine throughout the year, but spring is the perfect time to wear one layered over a T-shirt or tied around the waist. This Dries Van Noten shirt would be perfect with a baggy jean and low pump.”

Ovalo wide-leg pants by Jacquemus ($1,150)

“Jacquemus makes beautiful, slightly sculpted pants. I have a similar pair by him in black, which are the perfect smart but comfortable pant. I’ll be buying these for the spring and summer months.”

Loewe red cashmere sweater Mytheresa

Double L cashmere-blend polo sweater by Loewe ($2,600)

“This Loewe sweater is from Jack [McCollough] and Lazaro [Hernandez]’s first collection for Loewe. The color palette of the collection was so beautifully bold and bright. I love an oversize knit and will wear it over a skirt or draped over my shoulders.”

The Row black cotton shorts Mytheresa

Emiliano cotton shorts by The Row ($950)

“I don’t wear a short short, but I love a baggy longer style. The Row has been making the best baggy shorts, and for me they are a wardrobe staple for the warmer months. I’ll wear these with a cool ballet flat, and white or black T-shirt or the currently sold-out low white pumps from the Row.”

Alaia body suit ribbed on Mytheresa

Ribbed-knit bodysuit by Alaïa ($930)

“An Alaïa bodysuit is a failsafe go-to item for me. They are so versatile and easy to wear with just about anything in your wardrobe.”

Saint Laurent slingback heels on Mytheresa

Madeleine taffeta slingback pumps by Saint Laurent ($1,950)

“For the perfect, elegant, artful heel, I always look to Saint Laurent. The shape is so feminine and so flattering on the leg. I’ll be wearing these with a loose silk pencil skirt and the perfect white T-shirt.”

Prada cat eye glasses on Mytheresa

Logo cat-eye sunglasses by Prada ($580)

“Prada accessories always have so much personality. They’re a great way to make something practical, like a pair of sunglasses, feel unexpected.”

Classic 18kt gold necklace with diamonds by Suzanne Kalan ($100,000)

“When it comes to jewelry, I prefer to keep things classic. Gold necklaces pair well with just about everything, but especially rich jewel tones. A necklace like this can make even a white T-shirt feel elevated and fresh.”

SOPHIE BILLE BRAHE gold ring with diamonds at Mytheresa

Ensemble De Ciel 18kt gold ring with diamonds by Sophie Bille Brahe ($10,080)

“Sophie Bille Brahe has been my favorite jewelry designer since I met her more than a decade ago. I have collected her jewelry for years and wear her pieces all day everyday. I’ve been planning to add this ring to my collection for a while!”

Sophie Bille Brahe gold earring with diamonds

Embrassée de Diamant 18kt gold single earring with diamonds by Sophie Bille Brahe ($15,750)

“Another beautiful piece by Sophie Bille Brahe. I can’t wait to layer this with other earrings. I would wear it either as a single or a pair mixed with smaller diamond or gold hoops.”
