On Wednesday evening in Los Angeles, One&Only invited guests to step into one of Tom Kundig‘s residential builds in West Hollywood for an intimate fireside conversation. The architect and CULTURED Magazine Executive Editor Mara Veitch were joined by the local design community for a thoughtful discussion on Kundig’s One&Only Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, Montana—the hospitality brand’s first U.S. resort—alongside a dialogue on the architect’s new book, Tom Kundig: Complete Houses.
The Scene: Veitch and Kundig bantered back-and-forth as guests took in the discussion against the backdrop of a quintessential Los Angeles sunset. Topics included Kundig’s background in mountain climbing, the spark that drew him toward collaboration with One&Only, the emotional journey of experiencing of a new environment, and the biggest challenges and surprises of designing the Big Sky resort.
The Crowd: Spotted in the mix were editor Degen Pener; designers Andre Mellone, Henry Crouch, Annie Ritz, and Kelly Wearstler; real estate and hospitality entrepreneur Brad Korzen; design tastemaker Nino Ferrari-Mathis; and chef Roti Brown.
Food and Drink: The evening’s refreshments served as an ode to local scenery and One&Only properties around the globe. Canapés inspired by One&Only Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, Montana, circulated, while a Palmilla Margarita nodded to the Cabo property, and a Lavender Tangerine Spritz tipped its hat to the One&Only Kéa Island in Greece.
Parting Gift: To extend the evening’s revelry, guests were each gifted signed copies of Tom Kundig: Complete Houses, huckleberry jam, and skye incense by Montroi, which serves as the signature scent of One&Only Moonlight Basin.
