Wherever we are with the term girl boss, it didn’t even need to be applied to last night’s proceedings, which gathered 40 powerhouse figures over biodynamic and organic wines and sipping tequila at art collector, philanthropist and writer Allison Berg’s home in Beverly Hills. Leaders in their respective fields, the evening’s guests were brought to the table by a shared vision of a future where female CEOs, artists and founders lead us into an era of more thoughtful production and consumption. Riding the excitement for Frieze Los Angeles’s momentous return and the togetherness it inspires, hosts Cultured editor-in-chief Sarah Harrelson, Another Tomorrow’s Vanessa Barboni Hallik, Art Production Fund’s Casey Fremont, Patti Röckenwagner and Mara Brock Akil kicked off the intimate dinner of like minds with speeches by Hallik and Harrelson that showcased the way casual encounters—such as al fresco dinners with friends—can be springboards, not only for conversation between disciplines but making the world better place for all.
In addition to a flight of white, orange and red wines made by female vintners and curated from Domaine LA, female-founded Casa Dragones spiked the festivities with tequila served with a grapefruit twist. Guests were impressed by the three-course menu that included a delectable wild mushroom raviolini with seasonal vegetables, colorful Asian greens with crispy noodles, and flourless chocolate cake with brûleé bananas and caramel.
Of course, you want to know who was invited. When everyone is notable it’s hard to name drop but let’s just say guests included Angela Davis, Ali Taekman, Karen Pittman, Andi Potamkin, Neha Kapur, Genevieve Gaignard, Sarah Hoover, Stefania Arrivabene Varney, Elizabeth Whitson, Clare Vivier, Alessandra Codinha, Belén Hormaeche, Kyle DeWoody, Honor Fraser, Jennifer Grey and Talitha Watkins. The unseasonably brisk Los Angeles night made bonding even easier as the woman huddled in closer circles to chat business, pleasure and the exciting art week ahead.
