A celebration always calls for a little tequila, and when the bottle is designed by one of the Haas Brothers, the launch becomes something closer to a collectible artwork unveiling. To announce the debut of its limited-edition Añejo Artist Series bottle, Tropa Tequila hosted an exclusive gathering of artists, designers, and collaborators at the Haas Brothers’ new studio in North Hollywood. With only 300 individually numbered bottles, Tropa’s release reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to bringing together craft, design, and good spirits.

The Scene: An intimate dinner table crowded with the Los Angeles art and design community toasting their glasses to Tropa Tequila.

The Locale: The Haas Brothers’ newly opened North Hollywood studio surrounded by the duo’s whimsical and surrealist creations.

The Crowd: Guests included costume designer and stylist Megan Bowman, photographer Lauren Dukoff, makeup artist Sandy Ganzer, Tom Daly and Max Vallot of District Vision, interior designer Alison Palevsky, designer Lauren Mollica, creative director Djuna Bel, and the artist of the evening, Nikolai Haas.

The Occasion: The limited-edition release of Tropa Tequila’s Añejo Artist Series bottle. Designed by Nikolai Hass and produced by Max Block and Cam Saffle of CARVINGBLOCK, the sculptural bottles, complete with caps hand-beaded by artisans in South Africa were the centerpiece of the dinner.

Food and Drink: Guests celebrated the release of Tropa Añejo with samples of the small-batch tequila with notes of hazelnut, chocolate, and toasted oak distilled in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. The evening’s menu featured a multi-course program honoring the brand’s origin and unconventional approach with guests enjoying a myriad of dishes including esquites tartlets, aguachile crab tostadas, and mushroom-infused chocolate truffles.
