It’s finally fall, which means that we will be doing everything in our power to channel the immense levels of coziness that this picture of Lenny Kravitz and his extraordinarily capacious scarf exudes. But now, thanks to a new design capsule collection courtesy of Kravitz and CB2, I don’t even need to leave the apartment to indulge in his signature mix of indulgent, laid-back cool.
Drawing from European modernism, the famed Case Study houses in Southern California, and Kravitz’s roots in the Caribbean, the 62-piece collection balances supple material with functional design. “I was especially inspired by the International Style architecture movement and its influence on California modernism,” said Kravitz. “My aim was to create a collection of pieces that feel timeless.”
Thoughtful homages to mid-century modern icons nod to the history that informs the collection. The Rohe marble table is named after modernist master Mies van der Rohe. The collection’s styles are intended to blend in seamlessly into any living space, appearing in rich, versatile neutrals ranging from toffee, sand, ivory, and charcoal, all accented by sturdy stainless steel. Speckled Breccia marble forms the foundation of three styles of tables: coffee, end, and dining. The luxury extends from the dining room with the Rake Chair with stainless steel armrests to the lounge version, outfitted with suede cushions and an accompanying ottoman. Resist the harsh glow of overhead lighting with rice paper lampshades pulled over sturdy marble bases and bent steel frames. From Danish cord stools to woven leather seating, the collection is as tactile as it is cozy – enough to make you excited to come home, no matter how cozy your scarf is.
