The meadow of Ray and Charles Eames’s Case Study home in Santa Monica became a movie theater on Wednesday afternoon. On view was a special screening of five of the iconic designers’ films which were recently restored by the Library of Congress with support by Herman Miller. A vivid and much needed departure from fair week madness, an intimate picnic lunch offered guests the opportunity to idyll in front of the historic home where the Eameses both created and lived, as well as tour the preserved estate in Pink Panther slippers provided by Happy Socks. While munching on yeast-coated popcorn and toasted treats by Sqirl, guests including creative locals like Alex Israel and Torbjorn Rodland, as well as out-of-towners like Chloe Wise and RF Jefferies.

In their heyday, the late designers were known for their parties, and this afternoon was no exception thanks to hard work of the foundation and the afternoon’s generous partners: Courant, Sun Buddies, Polaroid Originals, Byredo and Recess.

Since you couldn't make it we captured it anyway with Polaroid’s SX-70 instant-photography camera, which the Eameses actually created a video for in 1972.
