Next month Pat Steir will present “Blue River and Rainbow Waterfalls,” her first ​display with Hauser & Wirth and first showing in New York since 2017. ​(“We should all go out on the street this very minute,” she told Cultured ​about her last show, "Kairos,” explaining her anger ​toward the country's administration “We should all do what they did in India, take off our clothes and walk, we should start in New York and end up in Los Angeles.”​)​ ​Five years later, the artist—who was a​ co-founder of the feminist journal and collective Heresies, and a former art director Harper & Row Publishing Company​ (now HarperCollins)​—previews new work​ from her ​upcoming exhibition in​ ​this commemorative Cultured anniversary cover.
