With Design Miami/ and Art Basel Miami Beach fairs opening to members and special guests, Tuesday flew by for those navigating the VIP version of the Miami Art Week gauntlet. It was only when the sun started to set over the beach that future-looking assessments could be made. Heels were hurting. Tote bags were full. Sales gossip and highlight swapping was in full buzz. However, this thrumming energy proved no match for the calm sophistication of art collector Monica Kalpakian’s Miami Beach abode which she opened up for a post-fair happy hour hosted by The Cultivist and Cultured.

Kimberly Macleod, Monica Kalpakian.
Naomi Baigell, Tina Perry.
Mark Hernandez, Laura Posbolska, Monica Kalpakian, Katherine Francey Stables.
Stephanie Tuttle, Susan Dunlevy.
Matthew Marchak, Polina Proshkina.
Ric Whitney, Robert Galstian.
Marlies Verhoeven.
Alex Delotch Davis, Joey Lico, Lily Harriman, Sunda Uzzell.

Distinguished attendees like Tina Perry, Ric Whitney, Joey Lico, Marlies Verhoeven and Yala Balan were rewarded for taking a moment to pause with bubbling drinks and perhaps most intriguingly an up-close look at Kalpakian’s enviable holdings. It’s these kind of intimate glimpses into people’s lifelong commitment to art that both the Cultivist and Cultured hope to engender with our programming. To see this idea come to fruition as live event with close friends during a week already brimming with celebration, gave the whole cocktail hour a glow that reenergized the team to bring you more great on-the-ground coverage.
