On September 12, The Compound Gallery hosted its first exhibition, a collaborative project by the gallery’s founder and operator Set Free Richardson and renowned hip hop photographer Jonathan Mannion. The Compound is a Bronx-based agency, creative space and shop dreamt up by Richardson and special projects curator Yasiin Bey, the retired rapper formerly known as Mos Def. The inaugural show “I Got A Gallery.” “I Got A Show.” includes nearly 50 photographs by Mannion that span his career from his most iconic works to ones previously unseen. Get an inside look at the project from the perspectives of the two masterminds here on Cultured.
